Bio

Prior to the Nisga'a Treaty Eva was elected as Councillor to the Gitlakdamix Band Council for 13 years. Prior to the Nisga'a Treaty, she became the First Nisga'a woman to be appointed as Deputy Chief Councillor of the Gitlakdamix Band Council. First Nisga'a woman appointed to Chair the Nisga'a Treaty Ratification Committee. She was the first Nisga'a woman to be elected as the Chief Councillor of the New Aiyansh Village Government in 2004 to 2008.

She was also the first Nisga'a woman to be elected as President for Nisga'a Lisims Government from 2016-2024. She is currently serving her third term: 2024-2028.

Eva is Nisga'a. She is the daughter of the Late Louise Martian and the Late Cyprian Nisyok. With the loss of her father at such an early age, she was sent to St. Michael's Residential School in Alert Bay at the age of 7 years. Eva is a survivor of Residential School, Indian Day School, and the Boarding Home program. At a very young age, she was the second mother to her younger siblings, she learned very quickly and adapted to independence. She prides the teachings of her mother and grandparents, to always be respectful and honest. She lives up to those teachings to this day, whether it is in her work at the political, administrative, or personal level.

Eva worked extensively in the business administrative field since 1976. She developed an interest to work as a secretary while in grade 7, and ultimately achieved that goal after completing her secondary and postsecondary education.
